The team at Humphrey & Associates, Inc. helped area children have a memorableChristmas after donating and building 230 bicycles during the company's annual Bicycle Drive.
The team, which consists of about 450 people, has been holding the bicycle drive since 2014, said Buster Kirkland, Vice President of Humphrey & Associates, Inc.
"Instead of spending money on Christmas cards and gifts, we let our clients know that we're doing the bicycle drive to help the less fortunate in our communities," Kirkland said. "Our clients like it because it's a great way to help out the less fortunate and celebrate the holiday."
To promote safety, Kirkland said the team raised enough money to ensure each bicyle came with a helmet.
Before Christmas, the training area of Humphrey & Associates became an assembly area, where the team worked together to assemble each bicycle. In all, the team spent two evenings putting the bicycles together, Kirkland said.
“Once we get our assembly line going, we were able to get them all put together quickly,” Kirkland said.
The company worked with seven local charities to distribute the bicycles, including Mission Arlington, Six Stones, Denton Bible/Cross Timbers, Toys for Tots, Rock Point Church, East Texas Church and the Clay Sports Ranch Toy Drive.
“We all pool our resources and work together to make sure we help our community,” Kirkland said.
